What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is simply using communications technology to provide real time health advice for your pet. This is usually done via video chat where you can speak with the vet or nurse virtually – face to face
Telemedicine is not a replacement for a physical examination of your pet but a valuable addition to your pet’s ongoing care.
How do we use Telemedicine in Our Practice?
We use telemedicine for a number of different situations, the most common being for post consultation monitoring of your pet’s condition as well as assessing your pet’s recovery after surgery.
We also use virtual chats to discuss results of X-Rays, Blood tests, CT and MRI Scans where your pet doesn’t need to be present.
This is a much more convenient than having to come back to the clinic to discuss results in person.
These situations of course are for pets under our care who we have examined recently.
Second Opinion Consultations
We find that many people are looking for extra information about their pet’s condition that is over and above the information they receive during a consultation.
This is often called a “second opinion” to confirm or discuss a diagnosis or a “coaching consultation” which explores options and provides guidance on which is best suited to your specific situation.
Most of our second opinion advice centres around Musculoskeletal issues such as Arthritis, Lameness and Rehabilitation in which case we require access to your pet’s veterinary history and diagnostic results. These need to be sent to us at least 24 hours before any scheduled online consultation.

What technology do I need for an Online Consultation?
All you need to connect to an online consult is a Smartphone, iPad or computer. And an internet connection of course.
How do I know if an online Consultation is right for my pet's situation?
Before we organise an online consultation we always make sure this is an appropriate way to address your pet’s concerns.
Just call – email or message us and we’ll let you know.
