Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Pets in Whittlesea, Victoria

Time isn’t always the best healer for our pets. At The Vet Practice, we offer something different--hyperbaric medicine, which treats animals with 100% oxygen to repair damaged cells and tissues, reduce inflammation, and more. Hyperbaric medicine is a non-invasive therapy that delivers pure oxygen to your pet in a special hyperbaric chamber. This enables their body to absorb at least 15 times more oxygen than it would under normal circumstances, which accelerates the healing and repair process.

Why Would My Pet Need Hyperbaric Medicine?

We can use hyperbaric medicine (also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy) to treat numerous health conditions in dogs and cats. Some of these include:

  • Wounds that won’t heal or are slow to heal
  • Skin infections
  • Surgical incisions
  • Abscesses
  • Burns
  • Sepsis
  • Cancer
  • Bone fractures
  • Smoke inhalation
  • Snake bites
  • Inflammation and swelling
  • Pneumonia
  • Spinal injuries
  • …and more

How Does the Treatment Work?

In our hyperbaric chamber, your pet will be breathing in 5 times the normal amount of oxygen. Additionally, the pressure within the chamber is slightly higher than the pressure outside the chamber.

This ensures that your companion is receiving the highest amount of oxygen possible, and it also ensures that the oxygen is being absorbed more deeply into oxygen-deprived tissues.
Treatment is simple for your pet. They will sit in the hyperbaric chamber for about 15-30 minutes and absorb the oxygen being delivered. Depending on their condition, they might need multiple treatments to see results.
