Now by worming we mean protecting your dog and cat against Intestinal worms  - not Heartworm. (We can deal with that one separately)

As a general rule we recommend that adult dogs and cats are wormed against intestinal worms every 3 months.

The best product to use for this is a good quality Allwormer. We personally recommend Drontal Allwormer (tablets or chews) for dogs although there are others to choose from.

Just make sure all 4 major worms are covered by the product. These are:

  • Roundworm
  • Hookworm
  • Whipworm and
  • Tapeworm

An easy way to remember when to worm is to do so at the start of each season such as today - the first day of Autumn.

Then Winter - Spring - Summer. Easy!

But - make sure you worm for the correct weight. By underdosing your pet you risk making the product ineffective. Just follow the directions on the pack carefully.

Worming your cat.

For our feline friends who generally hate having to swallow a tablet and will generally put up a good fight, we recommend the easy to apply Profender. (Liquid allwormer that's applied to the back of the neck) Much easier!

Now, if you still can't remember and need to be reminded - buy your wormers from your vet. Chances are you'll get a timely reminder in the mail so you'll never forget to worm on time.
